Cool Calm & Collected - in the moment
Annemaree

Hello friend

Are you Cool, Calm & Collected?  Let's hope so and if not, get back into your YOGA!

On any given day, 12% of Australians are suffering from some type of anxiety and many more with 'depression'.

Sleep has simply become a fairy tale to many....10% are taking sleeping pills to help them enter 'Neverland' and the sad thing is they feel so lethargic when they wake up that they spend most of their waking lives feeling sleepy?  Go figure!

And.....over 20% of Australians will be complaining about twinges, aches, pains, stiffness and grumpy backs in some form or another.  OK, so what's the antidote?  SLOW DOWN!

How can I help?

Come along to some classes; have some private sessions; tap into the meditation on the CC&C website; plan to come to India; diarize a weekend away in Daylesford  or..........join FACEBOOK FAN PAGE.

Ummm... I never thought I would succumb to Facebook but I must say it is a fabulous way to keep in touch, educate, connect and share!

As some of you know I attended The Mind & Its Potential Conference held late last year and found it fascinating. Over time I shall pass on to you various links and content on how we can improve the mind.

In the meantime, I have a friend (who is already very astute) but who has tapped into 'Fast ForWord' and exercises her 'brain' every day.

I thought you may be interested to observe this program which focuses on memory, attention, processing and sequencing.

Fast ForWord also claims to assist those with diagnosed conditions such as Dyslexia, Auditory Processing Disorder and Attention Problems.

Growing Calm - the Business of Meditation

"Meditation is a growing business trend that may be coming soon to an office near you.

It is cropping up in human resources programs across the country to promote calm as we work overtime, skip lunch, do meeting marathons, save our annual leave, lose sleep over job security and monster mortgages, and multi-task like mad in the global recession backwash.

With all those pressures to contend with, we’ve become a mighty anxious lot...."

The Essence of Yoga series - Anxiety Busting.

Over the past few years,  I have been asked many, many times if yoga will help quell anxiety.  From my experience, the answer is a very simple 'yes'.

I realise how insidious anxiety is and I also realise how crippling it can be.  I am a great believer in the movement of Hatha Yoga to quell anxiety from a physiological perspective and meditation to soothe the mind.

I could write reams about this topic. However, I thought it appropriate to add a link/article on anxiety. These may be of help to those of you who need some reassurance that everything will be OK, and that you can in fact control, and in most instances cure, anxiety.

There is a great deal of information and help available....please keep in touch, so you may be kept informed.

When you wake up in the morning:

stretch from the tips of the toes to the tips of the fingers (reduces stiffness)

breathe 7 long calming breaths (energises)

drink two large glasses of water with a squeeze of lemon juice (cleanses the liver)

walk for 20 minutes (keeps the heart pumping)

Afterthought:

In the time it has taken you to read this you have possibly taken a deep breath, reflected, imagined and slowed down just a little.

So now stand up and stretch; walk around for a minute or two and drink a glass of water.

Hopefully this small break will have restored your energy.
